Surrounded by rolling hills, forests and olive trees, it was established in the 1980s: The ‘Le Macchiole’ winery. Back then, Eugenio Campolmi and Cinzia Merli fulfilled a dream and created a place for flavourful wines. Today, it is impossible to imagine the Tuscan coastal region and the Bolgheri wine-growing area without ‘Le Macchiole’. The wines are a symbol of Merli's personality, who now runs the estate with her two sons Elia and Mattia.
The winegrowing family has never forgotten one thing over the years: It is part of staying innovative. To constantly surprise wine fans and themselves. And to continue to develop. For example, the Merlis consciously opt for organic farming and emphasise sustainability.
The wines are characterised by finesse and elegance. The different plots of vines ensure incomparable nuances in flavour, always in keeping with the corresponding grape variety. In the midst of a small natural paradise, fine wines are created that perfectly complement the GRANDIS specialities. And which, even in October, convey the feeling of ‘Italianità’, of sunshine on the skin, the sea breeze in the air and plenty of cosiness.
