Thursday, 24 September 2020

We very much regret, that the winemaker of the scheduled Spanish winery is not able to come to Switzerland because of Covid 19.

As an alternative, we present to you three very different wineries: Bernhard Ott from Austria, Reynolds Wine Growers and Quinta do Vesuvio from Portugal.

The winery Berhard Ott is situated at the Wagram, a famous wine-growing region at a mountain range, which runs alongside the Danube from Krems to the East. The Ott winery has been family owned for more than four generations. Most of the vineyards is planted with the grape "Grüner Veltliner", which is vinified complexly and clearly defined by Bernhard Ott. His top vineyards are Bio-certified.

The familiy Reynolds, which immigrated 200 years ago from England to Portugal, is making wine in the Alentjo since 1850. The family-owned winery is situated close to Arronches. The most important grape variety is "Alicante Bouschet", which mostly is the main grape variety besides autochthonous and international grape varieties like "Cabernet Sauvignon" and "Syrah" in assemblages. The red wines of the Reynolds are complex, well-balanced and long-living.

Quinta do Vesuvio, one of the most beautiful and traditional wineries of the region, is situated up the river in Douro Superior. In 1989 the family Symington has taken over the winery and produces today besides port wines high quality and exquisite red wines. Traditional methods of wine producing is the tradmark of the Douro DOC wines.

Raymond Silvani, managing director of the Vinothek Brancaia in Zurich, will present to you an impressive selection of wines of these three wineries. Get to know extraordinary white and red wines of Austria and Portugal together with selected GRANDIS specialties.
